BDO Unibank, Seriously? This is Unacceptable

Calling out BDO Unibank — what just happened?

I was in the middle of a financial transaction using the BDO app when, out of nowhere, I was automatically logged out. I tried logging in again, only to be greeted with a message saying my account was locked. No warning, no explanation. Just locked out.

Now tell me, BDO — how am I supposed to meet urgent financial obligations when your system fails me at the worst possible time? I had bills due exactly today, and because of your system error, I missed my deadline and was penalized. Is BDO going to cover that penalty? I doubt it.

I called your hotline — using my international roaming line, which means it cost me money just to get help. And after all that, what did I get?
“Please wait up to 24 hours for your account to be reset.”

24 hours? Seriously? That’s a full day of being locked out of my own money — and I’m the one bearing all the cost, from the late fees to the long-distance call.

And here’s the thing — I was just lucky the ship was in port.
What if we were already at sea? No mobile signal, and no way to contact BDO. Then what? It’s scary to think that I could be completely cut off from my own account when I need it most.

Let me be clear: BDO is not my preferred bank. If it weren’t for the fact that my agency in Manila uses BDO for our remittances and allotments, I wouldn’t be using it at all. If I had a choice, BDO wouldn’t even make it on my list.

People rely on your app and your systems not just for convenience — but for real, time-sensitive financial responsibilities. System failures, poor customer service, and slow resolution times have real-world consequences for your users. This isn’t just an inconvenience. It’s irresponsible.
