Queen Greatest Hits Vinyl to My Collection

Picked up another vinyl for the collection—this time from Queen, one of my all-time favorites.

I ordered Queen Greatest Hits I & II from Amazon UK last week, and it finally arrived. Always a good feeling adding something new to the shelf, especially when it’s music you’ve been listening to for years. There’s something about owning it in vinyl form that just makes it feel a bit more personal.

Can’t play it onboard anyway—no turntable here. So I’ll just save it for when I get home in about 20 days. Looking forward to giving it a proper first listen—just sit back and let the whole album run from start to finish.

These copies are 180-gram pressings, which means they’re heavier than the usual records. From what I’ve read, they’re a bit more durable and can offer a more stable playback. Whether that actually makes a big difference in sound, I’ll find out soon enough. I’ll probably share a follow-up once I’ve spent some time listening.

Of course, hearing Freddie Mercury on vinyl is something I’m really looking forward to. His voice is one of those that never really gets old, no matter how many times you’ve heard the songs.

The only downside to buying vinyl here in the UK is the extra luggage space. Records aren’t exactly the easiest things to pack, especially when you’re trying to keep everything within hand-carry limits. Still, I’d rather deal with that than miss the chance to pick up albums like this.

Slowly but surely, the collection is growing—and this one’s definitely a solid addition.

Next step is figuring out how to pack this safely for the flight home without bending the sleeves. Might have to slide it between clothes or keep it in my backpack just to be safe. Either way, this one’s coming home with me.
