AJSU-AMOSUP Mariners Home: Safe, Clean, and Affordable Accommodation for Filipino Seafarers

AJSU-AMOSUP Mariners HomeAJSU-AMOSUP Mariners Home is the safest, cleanest, decent and very affordable accommodation for Filipino seafarers seeking temporary accommodation in Manila. While the warmth of one’s own home remains unmatched, AJSU-AMOSUP Mariners Home is a close second offering a taste of home away from home.

A few years back just when I started my seafaring career, finding a clean, secure, safe, and affordable accommodation in Manila was a dilemma. Either you’ll find cheap boarding houses in Quiapo or Malate offering bed space in a cramped room or you’ll end up staying in another cheap boarding house living along with rats and cockroaches around or even worse – BEDBUGS. In short, seafarers didn’t have a choice for clean, decent, secured, and comfortable accommodation back then.

Thanks to All Japan Seamen’s Union (AJSU) together with the Associated Marine Officers’ and Seamen’s Union of the Philippines (AMOSUP), the decades-long plight of many Filipino seafarers in finding a decent home in Manila comes to an end. With its dormitories, seafarers from the provinces now have the option for a clean, decent, secure, and comfortable accommodation.

As of posting, AJSU and AMOSUP have five dormitories exclusive for seafarers. Annex 4 and 5 is now open. I will post photos of Annex 4 and 5 when I have the time.
